The open-backed Sennheiser HD 600 headphones were originally designed for hi-fi use however they are an extremely popular choice by recording engineers, mix engineers and music producers for many many years.

The HD 600 Avantgarde are audiophile-quality, open dynamic hi-fi/professional stereo headphones. The advanced diaphragm design eliminates standing waves in the diaphragm material. What you get is a natural, spatial and accurate sound with excellent transient response. The HD600s run well on a regular audio source however pairing with a preamplifier will unlock they full potential.
