PROPELLERHEAD

PROPELLERHEAD

Propellerhead entered the world of music creation software in the mid to late '90's with their initial endeavour, ReCycle which enabled producers/engineers to change the tempo of a segment of audio without effecting the pitch, or time stretching the original music.

Next on the agenda was ReBirth RB-338, a Roland TB303 and TR808 emulator for Mac OS, which became very popular with many producers for its easy to use interface and sonic likeness to the real thing.

Props moved on to create the flagship in their range of useful software, Reason in the year 2000. Although rudimentary in its early forms, and a little restrictive in terms of not supporting third party software such as VST. Reason gave users a unique but very powerful tool in the form of "Virtual Racks" that could be used along side their current DAW via another impressive Propellerhead innovation, ReWire. This protocol connects Reason to other DAW's via a virtual link to be used with existing or new projects alike.

Reason has come on leaps and bounds over the years, with every new version update cramming in very useful additions - including an emulation of the famous SSL 9000k mixing desk, sending MIDI to external devices, innovative instruments/addons, and recently one of the biggest additions is the ability to support VST instruments which has opened Reason up to be a powerful product for all types of producers and engineers.

Priced very competitively, Reason is arguably one of the best DAW's on the market - given what can achieved within of the box, without having to spend more money on additional software. If you're not sure if its right for you, there is a demo available so you can try it out, and like us you will be impressed with what is available at your fingertips!
